How to Apply
There are two courses available: a one-year taught postgraduate course in TSM leading to the MSc degree and a four-year combined course leading to both the MSc and PhD degrees.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to make informal enquiries by contacting the Admissions Tutor Dr. Peter Haynes. The Imperial College Postgraduate Prospectus contains general information, including a guide to the formal online application procedure.

- The postgraduate programme to choose is "Postgraduate Masters - to be followed by Research"
- Use the programme code F3U52 (Theory and Simulation of Materials)
- There is no need to enter a Proposed Research Topic or Research Supervisor.
- For the one year MSc only:
- The postgraduate programme to choose is "Postgraduate Masters"
- Use the programme code F3U5 (Theory and Simulation of Materials)
- There is no need to enter a Proposed Research Topic or Research Supervisor.
- If you are an overseas student seeking a scholarship from Imperial College London then please seek advice from the Admissions Tutor before submitting your application.
The DTC has funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council for at least ten four-year PhD studentships per year. This funding may be used to pay the fees of students from the UK and EU, and also the stipends of UK and EU students who have been "ordinarily resident" in the UK for the last three years. Applicants should normally have, or expect to achieve, a first class Bachelor's or Master's degree in the physical sciences or engineering - more details... The selection procedure will include an interview with members of the Research Board of the TSM-DTC. All places have now been allocated for October 2010 entry, and applications for October 2011 entry will open shortly.
Applications from students with their own funding are welcomed for either course. Imperial has a number of scholarships for postgraduate study. Overseas applicants should read this information from the International Office.
