Radiation damage in metals

News

3 Feb 2009 Chris' paper on the effect of electronic excitations on interionic forces has been accepted for publication in J.Phys. Cond. Mat. A link will appear in the publications tab once the proofs are finalised.
12-16 Dec 2008 Tchavdar Todorov from QUB visits the radiation damage group for a week. Amongst other things he has really pushed forward our understanding of the electronic stopping of high energy ions in channelling simulations.
Nov 2008 Jonathan's paper "How good is damped molecular dynamics as a method to simulate radiation damage in metals?" is accepted by NJP, scheduled for provisional publication in January.
13 Nov 2008 The biannual consortium meeting was held at ICL.
21 Jul 2008 Daniel gives a talk at the conference "Molecular Dynamics for Non-Adiabatic Processes" at the Institute of Physics, London. The title is "How good is damped molecular dynamics as a method to simulate radiation damage in metals?" and covers our recent results of energy transfer in Ehrenfest simulations.
20 Jun 2008 Jonathan has submitted his PhD thesis and is leaving us to work on financial modelling in the city. We wish him all the best at Deutsche!
16 Jun 2008 Francine Foo joins the IC radiation damage group as a summer intern student. She will be looking at energy loss mechanisms from higher energy ions- up to 1MeV.
22 May 2008 Adrian, Andrew, Daniel and Matthew travel to Queen's University Belfast for the biannual CEID consortium group meeting. Daniel presents a talk on "Focussons, non-adiabatic forces and potentials", an overview of the current status of our various projects.
28 Feb 2008 Jonathan's paper is accepted by JPCM and is now available from the publications tab.
24 Jan 2008 Radiation damage website goes live. Please mail all comments to Daniel ( see under people tab )
19 Dec 2007 Jonathan submits his theory paper demonstrating the applicability of Ehrenfest dynamics to radiation damage simulations to Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter.
10 Dec 2007 Ten postgraduate students from UCK, IC, KCL and QM gave 25 minutes presentations on their work at the Thomas Young Centre student day. Chris won first prize of a portable hard drive.
