Tom Poole

Imperial College research.

Tom is a postgraduate research student in the Condensed Matter Theory group of the Physics department at Imperial College London. In addition to his research, Tom contributes to a number of software companies founded by his contemporaries at Imperial College. This website provides supporting resources and links to his current work.

Background

Before commencing his PhD, Tom completed an MSc in Theory and Simulation of Materials as part of the associated Centre for Doctoral Training at Imperial College London. This work was the precursor to his current research on calculating total energy derivatives using quantum Monte Carlo methods under the supervision of Prof. Matthew Foulkes, Dr. James Spencer and Prof. Peter Haynes.

Previously, Tom completed an MPhys in Theoretical Physics at Durham University, with a final year project investigating the absorption spectra of light emitting polymers using density functional theory under the supervision of Prof. Stewart Clark.
